Woodbury Breakfast Rotary Club History
The concept of a Rotary Breakfast Club in Woodbury was developed in 1990 as an alternative to the traditional luncheon meeting of the original Woodbury Rotary Club (chartered in 1922) as a means to expand Rotary membership. The 1987 United States Supreme Court ruling against an all-male organization sparked the idea of welcoming women into this new club. The Woodbury Rotary club sponsored this extension with Sal Belia serving as liaison assisted by Fran North and Art Pilling.
Our Rotary Charter was presented on June 12, 1990 at The Venice Plaza in Berlin, N.J. With Gary Reddig as the first club President. There were 25 Charter Members and six of the original Charter Members are still active members.
Today, our club stands strong and solvent with 31 active members. Our contributions to our community are innumerable and we are ever mindful of our responsibility to the less fortunate in the world around us.
The Woodbury Breakfast Rotary Club is truly a unique group that always strives to give “Service Above Self”. Our 2009-2010 President is Mike Powers.
